You need to make sure you read the ads carefully before purchasing pet clothing.  There is alot to take into consideration when buying pet clothing.

1.  Proper fit - Some people sell teddy bear clothing as pet clothing.  Although these items are cute they don't work for pets.  There aren't opening to allow for waste.  The arm holes should be underneath the outfit instead of on the sides.    Alot of people offer standard size but you should measure your pet prior to purchasing an outfit and these measurements should be around the neck, around the chest(measuring behind the front legs around the girth) and the topline or length (measuring from the nap of neck to were tail begins).  If your pets tail curls up you should measure your pet while the tail is in the up or curled position.  If you get the dress to long it will curl the dress up and is not a proper fit.   Custom Fitting - this is the best way to order as you are assured that the outfit will fit your pet.  There are sellers who will allow you to send your pets measurements and make them custom for your pet and this is extremely important as pets don't come in standard sizes.  Sometimes your pet will fit within the standard size but they are like people and come in all different shapes and sizes so that you can assure proper fit ask if the seller would be willing to custom fit the clothing to your pets measurements.  Most people offer velcro fasteners so that the fit is adjustable for growth or weight loss.  This is probably the best way to purchase pet clothing because it is sturdy and adjustable.

2. Washing/Laudry safe - Alot of the pet clothing made is laundry safe.  However, there are some items such as velvet, velveteen, faux furs, etc that are dry clean only.  These are beautiful items and are good for special occasions but if you aren't willing to have the item dry cleaned then you shouldn't purchase them.  There have been people that say Boas aren't washable WELL IN FACT THEY ARE - You can wash them with you laundry but you cant dry them.  You take them out of the wash and dry them with a blow dryer and they fluff up to the previous shape they were prior to washing.  They are appealing to the eye and alot of people enjoy dressing their pets with boas as do I.

3.  Durability -

     a.  Lined clothing is probably the best because it ads durability to the outfit.  There are alot of pet manufactueres who don't line their clothing because they are mass produced and they can't take the time to line the clothing and produce quantity.  Due to the fact that you are dressing a pet durability is very important because if you invest in pet clothing you want it to last more than a month.

    b. Lace is something you need to take into consideration.  It is beautiful and I think that it should be sewn into the dress instead of on top of the fabric.  If the dresses/clothing is lined the lace can be sewn between the fabric and the lining to ad to the durability of the lace.

    c.  Ribbons/bows - you should ask the seller if they fray check the ends of the bows/ribbons to avoid fraying of the bows.  Once they start fraying it takes away from the appearance of the outfit.  Fray check is inexpensive and you can pick it up at any fabric store and take care of your own ribbons if the seller doesn't offer this.  I recommend you invest in a bottle because after you laundry the outfit the fray check will wear off the ribbon so you can just fray check it again so that your investment will remain to look nice for your pet.

Pet clothing is a large industry as more and more people are purchasing clothing for their pets.  Just take the time to research and get your monies worth.  Alot of people overprice their items and you can get quality clothing at reasonable prices.  You don't have to pay $50 for a quality dress if you just shop around.

Hope you found this Guide helpful and informative
