When purchasing a used microscope, E bay & Lab X are a good source, used microscope dealers are also if the has a competent service department. Get a guarantee at least 30 days & specify that the focus be smooth
and not chunky. I like Leitz or Leica myself best. They have parts & assembly drawings to help the do-it yourself handy type.
A little dust is not a problem, easly cleaned by a tech. Most shops do not have allignment equipment, try and specify one that does. The optical items need to be in line and in good condition. some are hard to find.
Power supplies seem to be lost or whatever but missing. all is not lost try and find some person that repairs or makes them. A very big thing is to find the right microscope for the job. The proper type for your use. Metalurgical for metal and opake type work. (reflected light and all its options) Transmitted light for biological work. These are for high power work. Stereo or Macro Microscopes for low power examination.
