When purchasing a printer cartridge for your desk jet, office jet, bubble jet, or any other printer, you should be aware of an important piece of information:

There is no such thing as a 'DOUBLE INK' cartridge!!!

Ever notice when you buy a new printer that the ink cartridges that come with it do not last very long?  Well, they don't because they are only filled to HALF FULL.  I can only assume this is a marketing ploy to cause the customer to have to spend more money more quickly.  Some eBay sellers have decided to use this information to their advantage and offer DOUBLE FILL cartridges, based on the fact that new printers come with HALF FILL cartridges.

When you go to a store and purchase a printer cartridge, have you ever seen one that said DOUBLE FILL?  How about HALF FILL?  No!  When you purchase a printer cartridge, do you expect it to be FULL?  Of course you do!  Then why would you think that a cartridge that fits into your printer could have room to be DOUBLE FILLED?  They cannot.  A printer cartridge is either FULL, HALF FULL, or EMPTY.

  1. EMPTY cartridges are purchased by printer ink remanufacturers to refurbish, fill with ink, and sell for a profit.  They may use the name of the original manufacturer because the cartridge was originally made for or by the manufacturer.  But they must say REMANUFACTURED, REFILLED, REFURBISHED, or use other words to that effect.  They cannot claim to be NEW or ORIGINAL by itself without these other terms.
  2. HALF FULL cartridges are not manufactured for RESALE and are NEVER sold in a store (at least legally anyway!) unless they are properly marked to state they are less than FULL (who would intentionally purchase a HALF FULL cartridge?)?  Once again, HALF FILLED cartridges are ONLY manufactured for installation in printers for sale, either NEW or USED, and generally do not have a bar code.
  3. FULL cartridges are what you expect to get when you purchase them as NEW or as REMANUFACTURED, REFILLED, REFURBISHED, or by any other term referring to a USED cartridge that has been modified as new and filled with ink.
  4. DOUBLE FILLED cartridges are a figment of the fraudulent seller's marketing imagination.  You cannot fill a cartridge to twice as much ink as what the cartridge would normally hold.  There are some eBay sellers who would have you believe otherwise and try to fool you into purchasing their products over other, honest, printer cartridge dealers.  Double Ink Link

Concerned about purchasing a REFILLED, REFURBISHED, REMANUFACTURED, or other term referring to a used printer ink cartridge?

This is all I purchase anymore, unless the price is right for a NEW cartridge.  So far I haven't incurred any problems with them.  In fact, I also purchase refill kits (color and black) and use them for several refills.  But doing that does not correct issues that eventually occur to the print heads.  Thus, once I have reilled the cartridges 2 or 3 times, I send it to an EMPTY CARTRIDGE dealer and purchase another USED cartridge (this also helps keep these items out of our landfills, which are already overloaded!).
