This guide will cover only the Prussian Landwehr Long Service 2nd Class Badge's ribbon. The Landwehr Dienstauszeichnung 2. Klasse Schnalle (often abbreviated LDA 2.) was instituted in 1842 by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. It was designed to be worn slighly below the heart.
The Landwehr Dienstauszeichnung 2. Klasse Schnalle or Prussian Landwehr Long Service 2nd Class Badge has a blue woven silk ribbon (UV-negative) with the yellow needle-work design (UV-negative and often in cotton or silk, depending on manufacturer) attached. The yellow design is 2 Landwehr crosses with F.W.IV. centered. Note that none of the stitching is outlined. As originally awarded, this ribbon was often sewn directly onto the uniform. Some recipients attached a pin-back to this award for easy attachment and removal. Many recipients chose to sew it onto a long blue replacement ribbon along with their other medals on the medal bar.

It is interesting to note that there are few copies on the market. This is primarily due to the fact that it's more expensive to make a copy than the original cost (typically €10 to €35) due to the intricate stitching on the ribbon. The most common copy utilizes printing rather than stitching for the design and a lead type metal. My best advice remains: Buy only from a reputable dealer who specializes in Prussian medals.
