I have read a couple reviews where people are talking about purchasing a Protron television . Well, I would NOT suggest it! We purchased one in October of 2006 and by January the remote was no longer working. In order to get full use of the television, you must have their remote. A 4-in-1 remote will change the channels, etc., but will not allow you to perform certain things that the TV offers. Our particular model has a split screen viewing, which means you can watch 2 shows at once - one on the left half of the screen and one on the right. This is not possible without the actual TV remote. We have been in contact with Protron for over ONE YEAR and have yet to get a replacement remote. We are continually told that they are on backorder and will be in within 15 days. This has been the same lie told each time we call. When asked how they are continuing to produce and sell TVs without a remote, they have some excuse for that, also. We have been in contact with the Better Business Bureau in their area regarding this but they have yet to respond.
What I'm trying to say here is THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE BUYING A PROTRON TELEVISION. Someone wrote in their review that they have 24/7 customer support which is true -- it's just 24/7 of lie after lie after lie.
