I hope after reading this you will rethink about your safty and plan not to be a victim.  One of the most vulnerable time is been alone, no one knows your where about. A hidden camera could be your silent witness when no one is arround. You only have to watch the news and see how crimes happened close to homes, malls and banking atm and there was not a soul that could have help. The advantage of malls and large business areas is that they are monitoring there property. There maybe a mall security officer driving around and yet cars are busted into and people are robbed, the only thing that will later help catch the criminals be a camera recording the event. Unfortunately not everyone have a camera in their home or outside their house.

     About 5 months ago a friend of mine whom now and then will help me install security cameras never knew that crime will happen so close to home. His brother came from work at around 12.00 noon when a car pulled up and he was badly beaten to be left hanging on a thread of life. At the hospital all we knew was that he was in coma and was found by neighbors returning home from work, as he laid there on the lawn in front of his driveway. As you can guess we had no clue of who could have done this and why,  because his wallet and cash were not taken. The cops had no leads to follow up on.The only thing left was to pray and hope he will wakeup from his coma. The doctors were concerned that his brain was swollen from the beating.

    It was a matter of just waiting and the tendency of human nature was to start blaming ourselves for not been there and have never prepare for something like this. As you can guess, we as camera installers start blaming oursleves for not having the oppurtunity to have help the cops to catch these killers. I was personally hurt because I couldn't help my friend to wakeup his brother.

    5 weeks latter he start responding to the medical treatment, there was progress and he could recall and remember what happen. He told the cops what happened and one person was arrested and the other two had left the country for jamica. The guy who stayed thought that my friend's brother would have died and no one would have never known.

My advise to everyone is:

•  let people know where you are going to be,  location is important as long as you are not hiding from anyone. Crime is not going to work on our convience and it is not planed by us. we need to always protect ourselves because there are those who will kill not because they need cash  and those who do.
• Have a  family member to know how long you will be out.
• Avoid carrying a lot of money
• Think ahead of your plans, for example don't enter your car and start going over your merchandize. Have your home key ready to enter the house or to start your car.
• The chances of been robbed at night is greater.
• Avoid automatic banking at night

I was once asked by a cop why do I have cameras arround my house and my reply was the only true security that never lies is a camera, it record, has a date and time if it is ever needed. People are not alway going to be arround.  The chances of a house with a surveillance system been robbed is lesser than a house with only a security alarm that makes noise. If combined  then the task is much harder for them. Professionals will target your telephone box wire which is accessable from outside, but if they noticed that they are been watched  there is a greater chance that they will go somewhere else. I am invovle with neighborhood safety and  community meeting .We cannot eliminate crime but we can help others from fallen into the criminal's path or plans.
