Or Protecting your LCD or Plasma TV from Damage

So you looking to buy or just bought a new TV.

Did you know that LCD and Plasma TVs crack very easily, unlike old tube TV’s? If you have an LCD computer monitor, take your finger and press it gently against the screen. Do you see how the colors distort? If you pressed harder there is a good chance you will crack the monitor. It doesn’t take a whole lot to crack a large TV. A child throwing a toy, a Wii controller slipping out of someone’s hands; Accidents do happen and unfortunately today’s TVs are not well protected against damage.

But I’m protected against that?

According to our research over 10,000 LCD and Plasma TVs were cracked last year. Obviously if it happens that often the warranty must cover it right? Wrong, warranties, even extended warranties you pay hundreds of dollars for don’t cover the TV against accidental damage. What about homeowners insurance? They’ll cover you if the TV is stolen but good luck getting them to pay up for a cracked screen.  If you’re your TV is cracked you are pretty much on your own.

It can be fixed right?

Yes of course you can have the TV repaired. Unfortunately due to the high cost of buying a replacement LCD or Plasma screen it will cost nearly as much as a new TV. For example; one customer told us about their cracked 46” Samsung LCD. They paid $1,900 for it a few months before it got cracked. What did the repair man want? $1600 dollars to replace the screen ($1200 for a new LCD screen and $400 in labor).

So what can I do to prevent it from being cracked?

The first thing you should do if possible is to mount the TV to a wall. This keeps the TV out of reach of tiny children and makes it less likely that rough play will damage your TV.  Next explain to the family how fragile the TV is. Most people don’t realize how easily these TVs are broken today and how much money goes down the drain when one is. While hanging it on the wall and talking to the family are great, they aren’t really solutions. They might stop a few woops moments or make the kids think twice about playing rough near the TV, but accidents do happen.

The best solution is to buy a TV Armor - TV Screen Protector. This will prevent even the “accidents” from damaging you thousand plus dollar TV investment.
