Protect yourself, your funds and your piece of mind while shopping on ebay.
There are a great deal of fraudulent and bootleg items out there, particularly in the DVD market. Everyone is in a rush to obtain high feedback numbers, and the way to achieve that is quick payment, quick shipment, and general customer satisfaction. This is all well and good, until we deal with bootleg DVD's.
But, is paying too quickly a problem? YES it is and I can tell you this from personal experience.
I fell prey to one of the 24 Season 5 bootlegs from Asia. I have a 100% feedback rating due to my immediate payments. This time, however, it burned me - big time. I won the auction, paid for it with PayPal and two days later I received the most disturbing of emails from ebay stating that the item I won was pulled and I should consider it canceled and should not pay for it. Too late, already paid for. They advised to cancel payment, dispute the charges and to do everything to protect my funds.
Unfortunately, the rip off artists circumvented the systems of both PayPal and eBay and I was SOL. PayPal could not dispute the item because the seller proved it was shipped; eBay's dispute console won't allow an investigation to be opened until 45 days later; my bank advised the transaction was legal, so where am I? Out $58.00 and the proud owner of a bootleg, defective product.
Had I waited a day or two, none of this would have happened. I would have received the e-mail advising the product was pulled and I would have protected myself from the grief and aggravation I just encountered over paying too quickly to maintain my perfect feedback. One or two days is not going to be a problem. Generally, most folks will go as long as 4 to 5 days before they start sending helpful reminder invoices.
Bottom line - wait a day or two, particularly when it comes to DVD's. You will be glad you did, trust me.
