I have been very successful  buying and selling on ebay for several years now. When I  first started out on ebay I had no idea of what I was doing. In fact I knew very little about Ebay ! I wondered how all these millions of people knew how to buy and sell items and I had no clue. So I began to explore on ebay wondering around from item to item. After a while a got tired of just punching in items that I thought I wanted to buy and began to explore the categories that were already provided by ebay!

• Browse the categories.

I had wondered around on this curious site and for some reason was not paying attention to the tools that ebay had already established for me.

1. It was so simple. On each page there is a section where you can type in an item that you want to search  for or you can browse through the categories.
2. The categories are already listed all you have yo do is go down the list and when you find a category that interest you just hit enter or click on your mouse and the category will open
3. Once the page is open it will generally be the item that is going to sell next in your category. You can change that in several different ways. Perhaps, that the item selling next is too fast for you and if your a beginner it probably is. Many times the item is going to sell in just a few seconds. You certainly won't have time to read the description Look at the top by where the category is listed and click on the arrow that is directly by where it states list by: Ebay has given you a chose! Try going to another way of listing the items for example you can have them arranged by highest priced items. lowest priced items or items newly listed. This will give you more options play with the same list for awhile and see which way you are more comfortable .

• Don't be afraid to to open an account and log in

In this day and age it is scary to do just about anything on line or for that fact anywhere else, especially when it comes to using your personal information. This is known as anxiety the fear of the unknown I have been an ebay member I believe for over six years now and have never had a single problem!

• Why does Ebay  need your personal information?

Ebay is a company just like many other companies you do not need to spend one single penny there to browse. However, On line people may take advantage of a company or an individual ,  so in order to be secure they need to know just who you are and be able to securely identify you so that no one else can use your identity to buy something. Creating an account is just like having a pass to buy or sell and feel secure that ebay is protecting you!

• Choosing a category when you are ready to start buying or selling.

When choosing an item to buy or sell on ebay  keep the following in mind:

1. Choose a category or item that you like or enjoy!
2. It really does not have to be something you have ever considered selling before
3. .It might even be something that you had or you always wanted to have as a child.
4. Be creative and daring  anything you can imagine (That is legal) is listed somewhere on ebay!
5. Read how others have written up thier discription
6. Feel free to learn from those who have been doing this for a while.
7. If you can not afford to bid don't 
8. I  knew that as much as I wanted to play on Ebay (Yes ! Play on Ebay ) , I knew I could not afford to just buy items I had to sell as well.

• My goal was to at least break even.

However , I ended up making money , having fun , meeting new friends , improving my computer skills and generally enjoying the whole experience including bragging to my friends and family.  My thanks go out to all those special ebay people who have shared their thoughts, experiences knowledge and general love for doll collecting. Without your openness I would have never been able to do such a good job and you know who you are !

The category I choose to start with was for some unknown reason was dolls. I had clicked on the link and with in a few minutes I saw a baby doll that I had when I was a child. It brought back the memories of a simple time in life and made me feel relaxed. In seconds I was day day dreaming of my room as a child and playing with that doll. What in the world ever happened to that doll? I had no idea ! It could have been passed down the road to one of my sisters or perhaps buried in the sandbox by one of my brothers. Or even worse tossed into the trash on one of those dreaded clean the basement days that rarely came up but took forever to do ! Anyhow, I had to have that doll! She was mine and I was going to get her !

• Tips on bidding

You see something, you want it and noone else can have it it is yours! Don't go crazy ! Bidding takes a little experience but remember all of these people started out just like you and you can easily win your fist item you bid for at a reasonable price by following the information below: Read the discription carefully

1. Does the discription match exactly what you are looking for?
2. Does it have a year listed ?
3. What about the condition of the item?
4. Is it in working condition?
5. It is chipped?
6. Cracked ?
7. Is it the right size ?:
8. Color?
9. Is there any information left out of the description that you want to know? (If so, look for the icon that says as the seller as question)
10. Remember, the seller may not be able to reply to you right away! He or She is not usually sitting at the computer waiting to hear from you. You will get your reply in your email. Another good reason to become a member before you are ready to buy!
11. Check out the amount needed for shipping and handeling it should be listed.
12. Will the seller ship to your area or zone?

The secrets of competitive buying:

What are the big secrets of competitive buying ? Well they are really pretty simple

1. Figure out how much or how high you are will in go in order to purchase the item
2. Using the "place a bid" icon will get you to the next step.On that page ebay  will tell you how much you need to bid. You may then put in your amount based on that number.
3. Don't be surprised if someone has out bid you before you can blink an eye. This is because somebody else has put in an amount that they are willing to spend. Or the highest they will go. Then ebay places the bid as necessary to help them win. These people are not sneaky or have any advantage over you ! You have your own personal ebay shopper too! Just place your highest bid as well!
4. Ebay will notify you by email if you are outbid this is great if you have access to your email quite often. However check in frequently when the item is getting close to the selling time because you just maybe outbidded and you want to bid again.
5. The highest bids usually come in the last few minuets or seconds! Don't think you are all set to win and let someone out bid you! Make sure you still have room in your amount in case someone sneaks in.
6. Don't get upset if you loose! There will be another item coming along and you will be more experienced ! You can count on Ebay to eventually have anything and everything and usually more than once.
7. Keep in mind that some of theses buyers are buying to sell !

Buying To Sell

Yes ! It' s true when you ask yourself where do these people find this stuff to sell the answer many times is this:

1. Garage sales
2. Rummage sales
3. Estate sales
4. They cleaned their basement and  /or attic
5. OR they studied ebay and know when their is an item for a great price and they buy it to sell again at a better price. Usually because the items was not listed good or described poorly. So go ahead clean your garage , basement, attic and find great items before long you will be voluntarily to clean friends, relatives and as well !
6. If your buying off ebay to sell again add the word "lot" or "lots" to your search. Buying a box full of old dolls at a cheap price gave me several dolls that I cleaned up dressed up and sold individually for a  great profit !

Selling to win !

Ebay makes it easy ! Your words must sell explain it all !

1. Read other individuals who are selling items like yours
2. Critic other descriptions, how could they have made this item sell better.
3. Get to the heart of it ! Let the reader know why they can not live without this item!
4. Follow the ebay form !
5. Insert pictures it is easier than you think!
6. Make sure you study the categories and know where you want to list your item.
7. Put a great title on your item. Buy paying attention to the title you can get your item in many different categories/For example : A. great doll compared to : B    Old Betsy Wetsy vintage  rubber doll ! Whenever anyone put these words in any combination your item will appear. So the more descriptive the better.
8. Ebay even makes adding the shipping handeling and payment plans easy with lots of varieties to choose from.
