I hope I don't offend anyone,
I don't mean to do that, but
I think that this needs to be said!

Negative, uneducated points of view deprive others from experiencing great products at fantastic prices!
I see so many folks complain about how they bought a 12 Mega pixel and it was only a 5, claiming that they got taken by false advertising. It's no surprise to me that these folks are also the ones that can't seem to spell, or know how to use spell check, so that would tend to make me believe that they may have a comprehension problem that prevents them from understanding what they are reading and/or or being able to follow instructions. It's too bad that just anyone can come along and spew out information that they
are not even qualified to comment on.

Professor Hacksaw's Interpolation Explanation

Have you been wondering what all this interpolation stuff is all about?
Well this is my personal opinion that I think will help you out with your decision
or to just understand it a little better. Believe me, it was very confusing to me too
when I first saw this unusual word and tried to make sense of it.
You see all these cameras with 10, 11, 12 even 16 MP ratings and you also notice
the price does not seem to be consistent with the product. Naturally one would
expect the price to be sky high for a camera with such a rating, but looking a
little closer you may determine that it's actually a camera with a 5MP
sensor (this info is always in the specs) that has the ability to produce
high quality images by means of interpolation, a simple digital
trick that these camera makers are using to sell their products.
They have the general public thinking that they need more pixels
when in reality
THEY DON'T!
It seems to me that they slap the MP rating
on the front and hope that the same general public won't notice
or (Probably more true) understand the interpolation thing.
In reality, the average user will be quite pleased with a 5MP as there is
no need for more detail in the pictures as opposed to a user that intends
to edit the pictures and blow up the images like a poster or giant billboard
where a lower resolution picture would be grainy or blurred showing less detail.
The mathematical 10, 11 and 12 MP interpolation is
(no matter how you slice it) still a 5MP picture from a 5MP sensor.
Don't get me wrong here because that is a very good MP count in any camera
My 508 has a 5.1 MP sensor capable of 12MP Max but
I leave it on the 5 MP setting all the time!
I am shockingly surprised every time that I review a new set of
pictures I took or a video... like last night I was in awe of the clarity and detail in a clip that
I shot while driving my car. "That's incredible" I was thinking
how good it was and looking down at the road I was amazed at
how I could see all the cracks and spots on the pavement
(I think even chewing gum or something) as I went by.
Now that's good enough for me but if you want a really
magnificently detailed picture you will have to get a camera that has
a live sensor of 6, 7 or 8 million pixels and man...let me tell you
there is so much difference going up just one number
(6MP, and I mean dead stop in motion clear sharp images)
you won't believe it!
I did however have the need for a higher resolution camera because
I had some very small coins that I wanted to get pictures of.
The macro setting was necessary to get very close to
them and here is where I need more MP's because
they are pictures that will be enlarged by
potential buyers that are examining my coins before they bid.
I used the 706 which has a live 6.85 MP sensor and believe me
they can see extreme detail here boy! All in all my 508 is great and
I am very happy with it! Even in low light It doesn't really make sense to me
how a camera can pick up such an excellent image! I am very happy with my 508.

Don't let anyone tell you and don't be fooled thinking that you
have to have 12MP when 5MP is grand and more than enough!!
