When buying on ebay, as you may know since you are smart enough to be researching items here, Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand bad words when the item arrives. With my 22 years of professional mascot experience both inside the costume from Disney to Professional Sports / and in the production end of doing the actual work creating a character I offer this a a guide to making the best choices when looking at costume.... 3 of these costumes were purchased on ebay by my company, 2 were made my my company. 2 of the ebay costumes were under $500.00, the 3rd over $1500.00.. In costumes you get what you pay for. The 2 costumes (far left) needed extensive work even before I let a performer wear the suit. The inside was not lined which means, this costume will last about 4 jobs before it start to break down. The one character had to be lined, new eyes put in, a new outfit made, and about 5 hours of work to make the costume suitable for doing a birthday party. The 3rd costume ($1500.00) was considered a bargin to me, great workmenship, and to me was worth twice the price.
I see a lot of character the Mascot Costume Section now, many from over seas. Though they look good in the pictures, I am sure you will find that the materials, workmanship and actual costume is put together so cheaply that they are still making a 50% profit.
So my TRUE advise to all buyers, THINK about what your buying and for what. KNOW that if you are spending a little on a costume, you are getting a little. IF you are going to use it more then a couple time you will make you money back, BE careful................. Best of Luck Bidders
