With all the stories in the news surrounding toy and product recalls from major companies, it is justified for parents to be nervous on they can best protect their children and loved ones from future recalls. A little up front diligence with your child's toys and products can go a long way towards easing nervous parents. Here are a few tips to help keep your family safe...
1) Register the item using the product information & registration card. This is the company's way of staying in touch with you the consumer. If & when a safety concern or recall should occur, the company has your information handy to let you know right away and can send critical information to you and your family. Of course, you may receive some additional junk mail too!
2) Check product information boards at your local stores. When you are out shopping with the family, it is always good practice to review the product information boards at the local Wal-Mart, Target, Babies-R-Us, etc. Many stores have the information about defective or recalled products posted prominently so that parents can be kept abreast of the latest safety information.
3) Periodically check the websites of the toy or product manufacturer. Most prominent toy and child product manufacturer will keep web users informed about the latest product information on their respective websites. Check from time to time to see what is new with the products you and your family uses.
4) When in doubt, just ask. Whether it is the sales staff at your local stores or the other parents at daycare always ask about other people's experiences with certain products.
Staying informed on products, toys, and gifts can go a long way to keeping your family happy and safe. Best wishes to you raising yours! Thanks!
