Children love playing dress-up. However, their stuff is everywhere after play time. How do you find an attractive dress up storage solution? The ideal storage solution is sturdy, provides ease of use for your little one to access her dress clothes and clean up after dress up play. 

Some inexpensive Disney dress-up sets come with their own trunk. The trunk is cardboard and more decorative than useful! After putting it together, reinforce the edges with clear packaging tape and it will last a lot longer!

A sturdier option is a hat box style trunk. You can purchase a floral or other print, round hat box style storage box. If you like to decorate your own, you can purchase paper mache hat box in a variety of sizes at a local or online craft or box supply store. Paint or use self-stick wallpaper to wrap the box. Embellish any way you or your little one will like, and she will have a custom dress-up trunk!

Hat boxes look great and are a nice storage solution. Most hat boxes have rope handles for easy portability. The only drawback to this otherwise lovely box, is it can cave in if a child tries to stand on it. I found that out when my 3 yr old used hers to reach the top of her bureau ( no worries on tipping the bureau. It's tied to the wall phew!) Her storage box stood up well under these circumstances until the 4th or 5th time. We patched it up and its still going strong. Hat boxes are good storage solutions but not very good step stools!

Vintage style hard shell small suitcases make a sturdier storage trunk and can also be a decorative element in a litle girls bedroom! Stack 2-3 different sized suitcases together.

For an out of the way storage solution, try the under the bed wicker storage baskets. These baskets will outlast your child's dress up stage and continue to provide storage for many other items.

A less expensive option is a plastic under the bed container... doesn't look as nice, but it does the job nicely! The kids may stand on it though! All 3 of my girls think its a stage for them to put on shows! "Please don't dance on the box"  Their brother also joins in... hey this thing can support 4 kids and holds alot of costumes! Good ol' Rubbermaid!

Another fun option is the Playhut Pop-up Disney princess toy box or hope chest. This is available in Disney Princess Theme or Disney Princess Cinderella. This storage chest is easy to put together. It has mesh pockets for jewelry, headbands, gloves and other accessories and a large capacity to hold all her dress up clothes. One little drawback is that this trunk is soft-sided like a play tent, unlike traditional toy boxes. You can place the toy chest in the bottom of her closet. After playtime, everything is stored away nice and neat and out of sight!

Three drawer plastic bins on casters can store and organize dresses, accessories, and shoes. In the closet, neat and out of the way! Since my 2 older girls share room, we use 2 of these in closet so the each have their own place for their special toys, jewelry, and accessories.

Traditional toy boxes also make a great dress up trunk. You can select a smaller wooden one dedicated to dress up. What a great holiday gift too! Can you imagine the look on your little girl's face when she sees a beautiful Disney Princess wooden trunk, brimming with gorgeous princess gowns and jewels?
