CARIBBEAN PRINCESS
How to Choose the Perfect Cabin for your next cruise
CABIN STATEROOM CATEGORIES
Cabin & Stateroom are the same thing, that being said, cabin type, category & location on the ship ... is a personal choice for most cruisers and one that is easy to make once you are familiar with the categories available on a particular ship! We are going to use the Caribbean Princess as an example to make things easier for you. Interior staterooms are great values and can provide a more easily affordable escape for some folks ... you can have just as much fun no matter what type of cabin you pick, book what is affordable for you and you will have the time of your life!
Read the details below and let us know if you have any questions. Hopefully this guide will give you some insight into the difference between cabin types & categories ... so when you are ready to take your next cruise it will be easier to understand.
What's the difference in cabins, categories and what difference does it make to you!
-
Prices are normally based on cabin type (sizes or square footage of cabins are different based on category you pick) , cabin view, cabin location and deck location on a ship ... so you can see there may be alot of difference between cabins and categories.
- The most sought after cabins are normally midship on any given deck as the most sought after decks are at least located middle of the ship or above and many people prefer the port side (left side of the ship, easy to remember port is 4 letters and so is left) compared to the starboard (right side of the ship). On most sailings the port side allows you to see much more cruise in and out of ports.
- Many times suites which are the most expensive cabins on a ship are often at the front (forward) or aft (back) of the ship
Cabin Types & Deck Location
Note: EXAMPLES of RATES
... from highest to lowest for each category or cabin type. These rates ... are for example only ... and do not apply to any particular sailing. We listed them to give you an idea of increase or decrease in rate per person based on category or cabin type you select. Obviously some sailings have much lower rates and some have much higher rates depending on sailing dates.
Below is a list of categories from the highest to the lowest category.
- Inside/Interior cabins have no window (there are many categories based on deck location on ship)
- Oceanview/Outside Cabins have a porthole or window and some of them in less expensive categories have an obstructed view
- What is an obstructed view? That usually means that the top or the bottom of the lifeboats partially or completely obstruct your straight out view However, the window still lets plenty of light into yoru cabin
- Balcony oceanview cabin has a balcony with french doors normally so you can sit on your balcony and enjoy a full view of the ocean or port
- Mini Suite has a balcony is larger and have more amenities normally
- Suites has balcony is much larger cabin/stateroom and has a lot more amenities
