Primitives tend to convey everything that represents a more simplistic lifestyle and time gone by. But for example you could take a brand new dresser and transform it into a reproduction time-worn piece simply with a bit of paint and a sander.

Simplify seems to be the "poster child" word when it comes to describing Primitives. Only second to "worn or distressed". Times were simple back then in the 1800-1900's and families worked hard and with what little they had they made do. They were creative in making what they had into useful things and nothing was wasted.
