The Crow's GardenYou can prevent the loss of millions of birds a year by making your windows more visible to them.
Birds are able to see ultraviolet light that we as humans can not. They also have vision that is 12 times better than humans. The birds eye actually makes up 15% of the birds head, while our eyes make up only 2% of our head.
To help prevent birds from striking your windows there are several products available.
Some are made up of decals that resemble predators, or things that they know they should avoid, like spider webs. Also available are decals that reflect ultraviolet light so they can see that a solid surface is there.
If you must have a feeder by a window, it is best to have a feeder that attaches to the window. If you have a hanging or pole mounted feeder near the window, place it no farther than 3 to 4 feet from the window, the closer the better for your feathered friends.
