Beware of fraudulent listings for boats, ATV's, tractors and anything else that is a great deal. Beware of listings that require pre-approval from the seller to bid on the item. These items will most likely be priced way below market value, offer you free shipping and an inspection period where you can return the item. I have reported multiple listings to eBay (they have all been removed to eBays credit) that offer these things. The scam works like this, you email the seller to be placed on the bidder list, seller will email you after the auction has ended, saying they were out of town and that they will re-list the item with a buy it now option for a great price. The seller will offer free shipping and will say he wants to use eBays Vehicle Purchase Protection program, and say that eBay holds your money for five days while you inspect the vehicle (FALSE). The seller will email you with a link to a spoof or fake eBay posting site, where you can buy the item using the buy it now option. I fell victim to this scam, luckily I went on to eBay and tried to complete the transaction by going on to "My eBay" and noticed that the item was not listed under the tab "Item's I've Won". I started to get suspicious and sure enough, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't. Seller later emailed me with instructions to wire the money to "Western Union" and gave me an address in Detroit (ummm, no thanks). I contacted eBay and they verified that it was fraud.

Be advised that I have noticed that these people are taking over other eBay users ID's, so don't just go off the feedback, and never, never, never use a link from an email, write down the item number, go into ebay and search using the item number, if it's a true listing it will pop right up. I have noticed that these sellers are now listing there items under unrelated catagories such as musical instruments or baby clothes, look at the left hand column and see what catagory the item is listed under. By doing this, guides such as this one will not appear. Be careful!!!!!!!!
