There is no better motivator then success! Potty training little boys can be a difficult and discouraging task, but parents and children alike are singing the praises of the world’s first and only flushable toddler urinal. The Peter Potty is a helpful and triumphant aid in potty training boys. Make the undertaking of potty training fun! This innovation significantly reduced the time it takes to potty train little boys and is victorious at preventing spills. By allowing young boys to stand, instead of sit, the Peter Potty is reducing the potty training age for boys by roughly six months from the national average of 37 months old, ultimately saving parents a lot of frustration and money in diapers! Your little boy will be encouraged by the independence and the positive reinforcement of accomplishment. He will even be able to flush the potty himself. Give your child the freedom to develop earlier and the tools to succeed.

When to Begin Potty Training:

Is your child at least 18 months old?
Does your child detest being in a wet diaper?
Is your child able to stay dry for at least two hours at a time?
Does your little boy understand words such as wet, potty, have to go?
Can your child understand simple directions?
Does your toddler show interest in using the Peter Potty?

If you feel your son is eager to begin potty training, you need to make sure that you are ready as well. This developmental undertaking takes a great deal of time and commitment from both parent and child. It is important to remain patient, understanding and supportive through the process of potty training your little boy. And like most trials in life a sense of humor will be a welcomed asset.

Peter Potty Helpful Hints:

  • Make sure that the Peter Potty is adjusted to the right size for your little boy. The height should feel comfortable and secure.
  • Timing is everything. Kick off potty training at a time when your family is not experiencing high volumes of stress. Moving into a new home, having a new baby, or any similar big changes can create a stressful experience. You are more likely to fail if there are pressing issues distracting your family. Choose a time when you can provide the regularity that is essential to your child's success.
  • Show your child the urinal, how it works and how it flushes. Explain how the flushing works and that it is only to be flushed to 'wash away' the pee-pee. Once finished, have your child explain it back to you.
  • You toddler’s behavior must be reinforced with plenty of praise. An easy way to display positive reinforcement is through hugs, kisses, high-fives and overall excitement. Find a positive way to motivate your child. You should not punish or scold your child if accidents occur. You do not want him to associate this process with failure or negative feelings. Showing your toddler how great it feels to succeed is a constructive method in potty training. Accidents are apart of the learning process.
  • Have frequent potty breaks during playtime where everyone stops to use the restroom will reduce the thought that they may be 'missing out on the fun'.
  • Drink fewer fluids in the evening and night. While you are first potty training it is wise to use a pull-up diaper through the night to avoid accidents and negative feelings about the whole experience. Once your child starts having dry diapers after the whole night, you can start using underwear at night.
  • During the day it is easiest to potty train while your child is wearing just underwear because it is easy to get them down in a hurry and he may even be able to do that by himself which may instill a sense of accomplishment and independence.

Good luck and Happy Flushing.
