FIRST - Make sure the *cover* is the 100% silk version not the newer silk/cotton mix! (batting/stuffing is cotton in both). A lot of sellers are posting the latter under the silk/velvet heading - READ THE DETAILS! The word "reversible" in the heading is a definite clue that the item is silk/cotton.
As advertised, they wash well. Minimal fading from washing if you follow the directions re: temp & use a color safe detergent. Some of the hand stitching does break with washing and use. Can spot clean with Resolve but *do* follow the directions (use "back cloth", do not over-saturate, feather outward & check both sides).
The colors/dyes are *NOT* sun resistant (see comments below).
POTTERY BARN SILK VELVET COLORS (from actual real life experience):
Pebble (channel stitch) - Velvet side is an almost exact match to PB "Everyday Suede" furniture in Wheat (silk side is slighty darker). Both sides very good tonal matches (tho slightly lighter) to PB "Wheat Velvet" furniture. NOTE: I am referring to the TRUE Pebble, so ask questions! Surprisingly, the silk/velvet color Wheat is *not* a good match to the above (too yellow). Older color.
Teal (diamond) - A definite Teal albeit muted. Extremely rare & ergo super hard to find - so ask questions (Can I return it? Is it really Dark Porcelain Blue? etc).
Cypress (diamond) - A medium-dark eucalyptus green; not distinctly warm toned e.g. it's slightly silver-y green (a deep celadon?). This color is particularily susceptible to sun fading; the silvery effect disappears & it become both warmer and lighter in color.
Khaki (channel stitch) - A *very* light khaki of the neutral sort NOT the yellow military khaki. Older color.
Porcelain Blue (both channel & diamond AND both regular & dark) - A slightly warm dusty blue. Note: I have bought both Porcelain Blue & Dark Porcelain Blue from the PB website and they are fairly indistinguishable. Dark Porcelain Blue is only slightly darker than Porcelain Blue. The blue in the PB pics that show *only* blue & white examples is TEAL (see above - impossible to find - ask questions). BTW, Platinum is NOT the same as Porcelain Blue.
Flax (channel stitch) - A not overly bright ochre/gold. Think "amber waves of grain" and pump it up a notch.
Mint (channel stich) - It's a neutral sage green to me. Much lighter & ever so slightly warmer than Cypress (not a good combo unless you have a "tie-ing" fabric). This color is NOT the same as Pear or Lemongrass. Sun fading only makes this color lighter - tone does not change. Older color.
Ivory - a true ivory; less yellow than "off white". Really lovely.
BTW, if you have pets and/or children but hate the appearance of slipcovers, or have PB furniture that is not available with slipcovers, the twin & queen size quilts are great couch covers/throws and the euro shams (unstuffed) are large enough to cover the seat cushion of most PB chairs. Match/tone the colors of the PB silk/velvet to your PB upholstery. Velvet side positively attracts animal hair which can be easily removed with a flat surfaced household cleaning brush. Also see spot cleaning above. It is possible to repair broken threads if you are handy with a needle. Lastly, the king size is very hard to clean & dry in a standard home washer/dryer.
