Potato Beads
Yes, that's right, potato beads!
I know it sounds a little crazy...well, alot crazy, but you can make beads from potatos. You won't believe how great they can look, I know I didn't!
Give it a try...all you can lose is a potato!!
Begin by cutting the potato into half-inch small chunks
Place each chunk on the end of a toothpick, be sure to push the toothpick all the way through. This will become the hole for the bead
Then push them into a foam florist frog (or styrofoam egg carton) so that they are standing upright
Let them dry. It will take about a week or so
Paint them with acrylic paint in whatever color you decide.
Let dry thoroughly. You may decide to use more than one coat of paint, just be sure to allow them to dry in between coats.
There you go, your beads are ready to be strung into a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Use as you would any other bead.
Have fun!
