Feedback in eBay is very important and this is a simple but useful guide to determine positive or negative feedback.
Ebayers thrive on feedback and obviously everyone wants positive feedback or 100% feedback. But really, that does not happen much. Sometimes something does go wrong that requires a negative feedback, I have left negative feedback only once since I have been on eBay. I have been selling on eBay for over a year and i have noticed a few things about buyers leaving negative feedback. Usually its for something that defective or broken and most of the time they are new to eBay. I have left positive feedback over a thousand times and 99% of the time they do deserve that.
If leaving negative feedback consider the following:
1. You paid, you wait, and wait, and wait and nothing. It been over 2 weeks or its been over a month and nothing. You try to contact the seller and you don't get a response. After numerous emails and trying to contact the seller you have nothing...Is this good enough for negative feedback? That is up to you.
It is to my belief that this is the only manner a negative feedback is deserved. Again, its my opinion.
Here are some things you should consider to wait before leaving negative feedback:
1. You got your item in a timely manner and you see that its broken or defective or pretty much not the item described on the auction. Don't leave - feedback right away. Communicate with the seller, let them know of the situation and i can pretty much guarantee that you will resolve this. Sometimes the seller will send another, or sellers offer returns and exchanges and even credit with the seller. Sellers are out there the make the buyers happy and with buyers like you sellers would not exist.
2. This happened to me, I auctioned of a pair of shutters sunglasses, the buyer was fairly new at that time. Buyer got the item and then a week later i get a - feedback. I emailed the buyer and asked why, the buyer told me that she wore them for a week and then they broke. You can check my feedback and find the negative feedback the buyer left. Well, i can't say much for this. Buyer used the sunglasses and then broke. Did the buyer break them, did buyer sit on them? Will never know. I can tell you this though, many sellers will go at great lengths to make any transaction a + transaction. I would have sent another or even refunded the money if buyer would have contacted me first. Again communication.
3. Some buyers are out there to just cause trouble. For example, this happened to me again. I auctioned off a pair of wayfarer sunglasses, i have a policy in which as soon as a buyer pays for the item i will leave feedback within 3 days. I got an email from the buyer that said that 3 days it to long and wanted feedback now, if not buyer was going to leave negative feedback. I sent buyer an email and explained the feedback policy and what buyer was doing is called feedback extortion. Well a few minutes later i got negative feedback. Thanks to eBay i got that negative feedback taken away because of the feedback policy eBay has.
4. PLEASE READ THE EBAY FEEDBACK POLICY!!! Click on the feedback button -> Feedback. To read the feedback policy eBay has. This is also found by going to "Help", choose "about topic", and type in "feedback" and read as much as you can.
Next time you leave feedback you have some things to consider. Again, this guide is done using my opinions and my opinions alone. Using my experience alone and no one else's. Thanks. If any questions, please email me and i will answer as much as I can. I do suggest that you use the "Help" link on the top for your questions cause of course eBay knows all the answers.
