Please read part one on how to use positive affirmations.
1. Re-write the old script.
Write down those negative statements or beliefs about yourself and change them to positive ones. Always state the affirmation in the present tense: in the here and now as if it has already happened. Don't use, I will or I am trying to." Never use the words "don't" or "not" or any other negative word because the subconscious will continue to record that affirmation as a negative one. Remember you are trying to trick your subconscious into accepting these statements as truth. Visualize the problem as changing to positive to help yourself develop positive affirmations.
2. Repeat your affirmation often and consistently.
Affirmations should be repeated often and consistently each day, at least 10 times or optimal results and in your own voice and with conviction. Repeat them more often in times of stress and anxiety. Abave all be consistent and don't give up. Experts tell us that you should be able to see some results within 3 days. Within 7 days your life will be noticeably different, and within 21 days you will have produced a valuable change in your life.
3. Visualize your new truths.
Visualize your new truths as if they were already happening. Picture yourself doing or being whatever it is you are claiming. Feel and see waht it woudl be like if you didn't have the problem. Start6 with no more than 5 affirmations. You may add more later as the process gets easier and as you become more comfortable with them. Visualization takes time and you may need a quiet place to accomplish this process. Close your eyes and picture yourself successful in your goal. Create a mental scene in which you have become victorious over your difficulties then attempt to feel your emotions that you imagine would accompany those achievements.
4. Act as if.
Begin to act as if the affirmations you are stating are already true. You don't need to wait until you change your behavior before you use positive affirmations, rather begin to use the affirmations immediately even before you see any results.
Bor example: you can begin to say "I enjoy being smoke-free" even while you are smoking. This may seem silly and may even seem like a lie at first but you will begin to see results in your attitudes within a few days. It is those negative attitudes that muste be tackled first before you begin to see positive results. It is important to put those affirmations in the present tense.
