Instructions for Baby Wearing
All positions start out the same way, with the baby sling folded lengthwise and put on like a sash. Depending which shoulder you would like to have it hang, might depend on which hand you use the most. If you are right handed, you would want to put the sling resting on your left shoulder. The fabric seam should rest in the middle of your torso (the fabric seam is where the two pieces of fabric come together). Make sure the sling is flat across your back for an even fit.

Cradle Position

With the seam opening for the sling in the center of your body, open the pouch. While cradling your baby’s head and body, slide the baby in bottom first. The baby’s bottom should rest along the fabric seam. Slide the feet in gently and then the head. To enclose the baby, pull the outside of the pouch up. To tighten the fit, fold the top layer of fabric over your shoulder; this is know as the shoulder fold. Arms can be in or out of sling.

Kangaroo or Front Facing

For babies with good head control (4+ months old). With this position, have the inside of the sling higher than the outside. With your baby facing away from you and leaning their back against your chest, slide their bottom in first in the sitting position. Tuck their feet in - either criss-cross or to the side, whichever is comfortable. Arms can be in or out.

Belly to Belly

For babies with good head control (4-5+ months old). With this position, have the outside of the sling higher than the inside. With the baby facing you, slide them down into the sling making sure not to get their feet caught in the sling. Their bottom should slide into the pouch. Pull the outside of the sling up, making sure their bottom is secure in the sling. You can keep the sling at their shoulders or pull it up to their head. Having the sling up to their head is helpful with infants and sleeping babies. Arms can be in or out of sling.

Hip Carry

For babies with good head control (6-7+ months old). Open up the pouch with the outside of the sling higher than the inside. Make sure the fabric seam is on your hip instead of the center of your body like the other positions. With your baby facing you, slide them into the sling, making sure not to get their feet caught. As their bottom slides in, slide them onto your hip. Pull the outside of the sling to make sure their bottom is completely supported in the pouch. Older babies may prefer to have their arms out. If the baby falls asleep, you can tuck their arms in the sling and pull the sling over their shoulders.

Back Carry
Older children (18+ months old). Start with your child in the hip position. Put your arm in front of your child and gently slide them onto your back. Arms can be in or out of sling.
