I have a 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo and want to advice anyone considering buying one of these car of the long list of issues that I have had with mine. From minor electrical issues to the oil usage.
This car was at the Porsche dealership that I bought it from for 3 months of the first 13 months that I owned it.
They addressed the oil consumption as a serious issue at first. The Valve cover was replaced which was somehow supposed to reduce the oil consumption. That didn't work so it went back in the shop. Next the cylinder head was replaced since they found oil in one of the cylinders. That didn't work, the oil level light still came on every 1200 miles. So here is the kicker! Now I am being told by Porsche that this excessive oil consumption is normal!!! Hey, why not, if you can't fix it just tell the customer that it is normal.
Other issues with this car included:
AC not draining properly, the front window would fog up to a point where you can't see. Fixed
Radio would get very static when the rear defrost was engaged. Rear window replaced. Fixed
Drive train vibrations. I was told that the tires were the issue so I bought an new set of tires, same result. Again told the tires are the issue. NOT Fixed.
Carpet became unglued at the bottom of the driver seat. Fixed twice, but now it happened again.
Rear trim piece under window came flying off in car wash. Went in got a new trim piece, which came flying off again. Went back in to get another trim piece and was told there are seven different ones and it would take two weeks to get the right one. Fixed.
Power seat button came off. Fixed.
Steering wheel had about two inches of play in it before engaging the wheels, although I think this was done by the dealer when they worked on the engine. Fixed.
Steering wheel buttons are loosing their black paint and are starting to look tacky. Poor choice of material perhaps?
I am writing this at work without my list of repair receipts to see if I am missing anything else. The only saving grace is that these were all covered under the Porsche used car warranty.
