I decided to make this guide after I nearly purchased a Pokemon ChaosBlack GBA (Game Boy Advance) game. I decided not to purchase it after looking at other member's eBay Guides and researching online. I did not buy this item for one reason: The game is FAKE! That's right, it's fake. This product is not licensed or endorsed by Nintendo or Game Freak, which is illegal of course. People sell these fake games to make easy money. When I say fake, I don't mean these games don't exist...They are very real...They're just nothing like a Pokemon game licensed or endorsed by Nintendo or Game Freak. For example, in one fake Pokemon game, you use a cell phone to call Pokemon (or "electrical monsters" as the game calls them) to help you in a battle. (Stupid, right?) Anyway, I found that many people were selling these items on eBay and other websites, and feel people should be warned.

Below is a list of some of the most popular fake and illegal Pokemon video games:

Pokemon ChaosBlack Version:

Pokemon Quartz Version:

Pokemon Naranja Version:

Pokemon Shiny Gold Version: (Don't mistake this for Pokemon Gold Version!)

Pokemon Dark Cry Version:

Pokemon Jade Version:

Pokemon Diamond Version: (***PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE BUYING A POKEMON DIAMOND VERSION FOR NINTENDO DS, IT IS REAL! IF YOU ARE BUYING A POKEMON DIAMOND VERSION FOR GAME BOY COLOR, IT IS FAKE!***)

Pokemon Perla Version: (Don't mistake this for Pokemon Pearl Version!)

Pokemon Arcoiris Version:

There are many more fake Pokemon games like these, such as Pokemon Arctic Version, and Pokemon Desert Version, and you should check before purchasing a game.

Another way to tell if a Pokemon video game is fake or real is the color of its cartridge. If you ever purchased a Pokemon Emerald Version game, and the cartridge wasn't green, it's fake. The same applies to Pokemon Ruby Version which is red, Pokemon Sapphire Version which is blue, Pokemon FireRed Version which is red, and Pokemon LeafGreen Version which is green.

I hope this guide helped you decide whether to purchase a Pokemon video game, and I also hope this guide helped you determine whether your Pokemon video game is fake or real.

Happy Gaming!
