There are many sellers on Ebay selling seeds from Plumeria trees. Before purchasing you need to know what you are buying and what you may or may not end up with.
If a plumeria is grown from seed then it is a seedling, not the original cultivar.
When started from seeds, the seedling that is produced may or may not appear to look like the parent tree that it came from. And if a DNA genetic study was done on the seedling it would indeed show that the seedling is very different from the parent, even if the flowers produced resemble those of the parent plant.
If you grow a plant from seed and then wish to sell it or trade it - you need to be advised that it should not be sold with the same name as the parent plant. A seedling from a King Kalakaua needs to sold as a King Kalakaua seedling. There is no gaurentee that the seedling will indeed be a replica of the parent plant when it reachs flowering age.
So, you may not end up with the exact tree that you are hoping for, but you may end up with something even more exotic. Growing from seeds is the only way to produce cultivars. If you plan on starting from seed then you need to have patence, from seed it can take 3 to 5 years for flowering to occur.
