Plenum cable, according to a web definition, is "A cable used in plenum spaces with tight controls and
specifications with regard to fire retardance, low smoke evolution in
fire etc. Generally controlled by UL910 and other specifications."
Plenum cable is unique in the cable industry in that the plastic materials in the construction of the cabling is regulated by the National Fire Protection Association standard 90a: specifying manufacturing details for the installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems.
Our customers use plenum cable to create installs in hospitals, schools and government/nongovernmental buildings. Basically, anywhere that the added expense is necessary to prevent critical fires from harming individuals and damaging property.
