Playing Dodgeball for Fun and Fitness
We’ve all played it in elementary and middle school, we’ve seen the movie, and maybe we’ve casually played it from time to time. But dodgeball can offer up a great cardio workout while having a great time.
You can play regular dodgeball or you can play a more intense version. Both provide great cardio workouts and both are incredibly fun.
Regular dodgeball is simple, the playing field is divided into two halves and you try and take out the other team by hitting them with soft, rubber playground balls. It simple and fun, and you can get a great workout.
The more intense version plays out like tag/paintball. Each team has a base and each team starts with two balls for each player. You basically try and take out the opposing team by striking them with the balls just like regular dodgeball but it takes place over a much larger playing field. Players that are truck by the ball go to the opposing teams base and can be freed by members of his/her own team. If you don’t have a big enough yard to play this game, head to the local schoolyard and play there. There are enough obstacles to create a great game.
