Getting married on a cruise ship at sea is a romantic idea that appeals to many couples.  It is an experience that you will remember for years to come.

In the last few years, couples getting married on a cruise ship has quickly become the trendy thing to do. This is because many wedding packages on cruise ships are offered in a wide price range from very high end to very affordable. Cruise lines today are willing to provide all that is necessary for a unique romantic wedding at sea.

Today many cruise lines take care of all the arrangements for the reception and the wedding. The bride and groom just have to show up on their big day.

Most of the challenges of planning a wedding are done for them. The bride and groom, their family or friends can enjoy the trip. The bride and groom will discuss their plans with a wedding planner provided by the cruise line. The wedding planner takes care of all the details with minimum fuss.

One advantage of having a wedding on a cruise ship is that along with taking care of the whole wedding, the cruise ship is their honeymoon destination. This saves time and money. It also gives them the opportunity to visit a new island everyday.

Many cruise lines are offering a number of custom packages that include everything for your perfect wedding and reception.

Most weddings take place in the wedding chapel on the ship. This room is also be used for church services.  Some couples will prefer to get married on the beach and then set sail on their cruise.  Many couples choose get married on board. However, in order for the wedding to be legal, it needs to be done while the ship is in port before leaving the dock.

Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas  has a cute little wedding chapel on board.  Princess Cruise lines The Grand Princess also has a wedding chapel on board that allows couples to get married before the ship leaves.

Some cruise lines allow the wedding guests the option to come on board for the ceremony and leave after the ceremony so the couple can embark on their honeymoon alone. This is the best option as it is cost effective and a good alternative for wedding guests who do not wish to go along for the honeymoon.

If the couple wishes to get married at sea, the captain of any cruise is authorized to preside over the ceremony. The couple is responsible registering in the port the ship docks in to make it legal.

You might consider getting wedding favors to thank your guests for joining you on your wedding day.  You can find a great selection of unique themed or personal wedding favors at Your Wedding Store
