Having a Pirate Party Bash? Here is a great idea for your invitations. On a computer I created an old looking treasure map complete with "x marks the spot" and included party information. The wording went something like this:
"Aye Ye Mateys!
X Marks the spot for Capn' Joshua's Buccaneer Bash! The shindig be happenin at .........
Ye are gonna hav a swashbucklin good time with some yummy grub an' kiddie spirits. Bring yer swimmin shorties and get ready to get wet!
Wave yer flag if ye be attendin er hav yer mum send message by way of yer phone to 555-1212
Don't be late er yer might hafta walk the plank!"
After I printed out the invites, I balled them up and then opened them again. Then I dipped a tea bag in warm water and patted it all over the paper (front and back). This helped to give them an old map look. I tore corners and edges to further the old look. After the paper dried, I rolled it up and tied it closed with old leather ties. You could use just about anything to tie them with though.
And there you go! I'm sure your yungun will have a great time giving these invites out! I've also heard of people using brown plastic bottles and placing the invites in them. I opted out of that one since it's really hard to find brown bottles and my son gave his invites out at school. I could just see that poor guy trying to carry a bag full of plastic bottles to his classroom! <GRIN> Also, I recommend that you print your invites out in black ink only because color ink runs a bit more easily. Then if you want to add some color you can use marker after the paper dries.
Happy invite crafting!!!
