Pinnacle MINT Hockey Coins
Do you have Gold, or Brass?
This information applies to both the 96/97 & 97/98 Pinnacle MINT Issues!
There seems to be a general confusion as to what makes a gold coin GOLD. Becketts Guides seem to be "forgetting" to include all the Pinnacle Mint Brand in their Hockey guides. I can see the need to help clarify. I used to correct many on ebay about their "Gold" Pinnacle Mint coins. Many out there thought that their Brass coins were the gold versions. Because of their appearence.
95% of the common coins in both series are in fact Brass. For it to be either the Gold Plated, or the ultra-rare Solid Gold. It will actually say Gold on the back. (Better Scans are available by email) Also it should be noted that the parallels are not limited to just Nickel, and Gold Plated. There are Proof versions, for the Brass, & Nickel. And there are Silver versions of the coins. Again though since Becketts leaves most of the Pinnacle Mint Brands out of the guides its difficult to get good information on these. I really think its more a problem of them being called Pinnacle Mint. And someone confusing that with the term Mint condition? But thats just a guess. The cards in each series, are still Die-cut, Bronze, Silver, & Gold.
As far as I know for Pinnacle Hockey. Pinnacle Mint was only available for 1996/97, & 1997/98. Quite often you can still find factory sealed boxes on ebay pretty cheap!
Sorry for the picture quality, the Ebay guides area doesnt leave much room for the picture quality.
