Pink Floyd In Concert : The Delicate Sound of Thunder
I have seen many of these DVDs being sold on eBay recently...
That is unfortunate, because every one being sold is a complete fake, pirated bootleg!! That is correct...The only formats this concert video were ever officially released on were Videocassette and Laserdisc...Any DVD that is being sold has been dubbed or copied from one of these formats...Many of these are being manufactured in Russia and China...Save your money, since when making a DVD, there is still generational loss of quality in both video and audio...
As for those DVDs claiming 5.1 surround sound, it is simulated from the original stereo...You can't get better quality of this concert by buying it on DVD...If you would like this on DVD, then take your VHS tape, dust it off and make one yourself...You can't do any worse than what is being sold right now...
For example, for James Guthrie and David Gilmour to get the surround mix they wanted for the DVD release of Pink Floyd P.U.L.S.E., they had to go back to the original analogue mulit-track master tapes and literally spend months in the studio remixing the audio...Those making the bootleg of Delicate Sound of Thunder, don't even have access to the original master tapes to even attempt a surround mix...
As far as I know, there are no plans for Pink Floyd to re-release The Delicate Sound of Thunder on DVD...It took Pink Floyd 12 years to re-release P.U.L.S.E. on DVD, which I believe is the definitive Concert experience from any band...
