Photographic finishes
When considering purchasing a photo or print, pay special attention to the details provided in the description. Photo finishes can vary and they DO make a difference in the way you will enjoy, display and view your photo. The finish preference on a photo varies from person to person. Our preference is Luster finish prints.Glossy photo prints have a shiny finish while non glossy (matte) prints have a duller neutral look. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The prints we offer are primarily on LUSTER also known as Satin finish. In our opinion, this finish is the most beautiful and best for display purposes. We have described the different finishes below and some of the benefits / drawbacks to each finish.
Glossy Paper finish
* shiny look - very common photo finish
* reflects light well
* vibrant rich colors
* appealing to the eye
* the standard finish we are now used to seeing
* can be hard to view under strong light sources
* fingerprints and dirt can be a problem
Non-Glossy (Matte) Paper finish
* does not reflect light
* black and white prints may look better with this finish
* easy to view under all light conditions
* does not attract fingerprints or dirt
* colors are dull looking
* do not appear to be high quality prints
* looks and feels like ordinary heavy stock paper
Semi-Gloss (Satin ) or LUSTER Paper - the majority of our prints are LUSTER prints.
* soft shine surface - has a slight reflective glow
* reflects less light
* vibrant rich colors
* very appealing to the eye
* easier to view under strong light as there is no harsh glare
* fingerprints and dust less of a problem
