To help you sort out good finks from bad deformed or worthless finks I offer this photo companion to my Comeplete Guide to Original Rat Fink Charms
REAL FINKS
This Pink Fink is real with the indented R.F. on his belly, painted eyes and a distinct ring hole in the back. Absence of a ring hole does not mean its a fake. See the example below.
REAL WHISKERED FINKS
This red whiskered fellow is real also and is whiskered also making him more valuable.
FAKE FINKS
Poor quality, irregular thin ears, excess plastic around the rim.
80S FINKS
Sligitly bigger and longer than the classic 1 & 3/8 inch size these fellows are now sold on the Ed "Big Daddy" Roth museum website. They are the newer version of the classic design BUT there are so many available that their worth is minimized as a collector item to a few dollars.
THE MARTAIN FINK
Its original from the 60s and is a very well designed piece BUT again it does't have the collector value of the Classic. If you get one try to get the card and package also to make it's resale value more.
GOLDFINKER
Personally I like this one from the 60s with the rare double hole design in the back for a special ring. It's old indeed But it has the words Rat Fink on its belly so it isn't the classic design. It is also made of a pewter type of material and brittle with the tail breaking off easily.
THE MINI FINK
Also around for decades and smaller than an inch. Comes in 4 basic colors blue green yellow red.
Here's the rub on mini-finks. There are gazillions of them on the market and really worthless as a collector item.
REAL FINK NO RING HOLE
Real but no hole. Slightly less value that its Classic ring hole brother.
DEFORMED FINKS.
Nice pink fink right? Wrong. Look at the left inner elbow. Deformed in the mold.
