After Pfaltzgraff discontinued some of the long running patterns, there was an overwhelming request for items to be produced again. "By request" means just that. Once a year, Pfaltzgraff now produces on a made to order basis, a number of discontinued pattern pieces. A once a year "by request" catalog is issued with the current year's offerings. So though there are some patterns that are discontinued, there is a chance once a year to expand on a collection or replace pieces.
