Hi

Some facts you need to know before you bid on a Peugeot / Citroen BSI unit from Ebay.

These units can only be coded ONCE to the original vehicle it was fitted to at the factory, once an attempt is made at coding a BSI that's it, you don't get a second chance! second hand BSI units are total useless on there own.

For a second hand BSI to work you also need the matching transponder immobiliser keys & the engine ecu plus the radio will need to be re coded, a lot of sellers forget to tell you this until after you have bought a used unit of them.

The BSI unit also stores the radio & immobiliser security codes inside plus the VIN number, unless everything matches up the engine isn't going to run & the radio will keep beeping, having the wrong VIN number can give problems if the vehicle is ever checked by the Police or if its plugged in at a Peugeot / Citroen dealer as it will download incorrect updates.

There are plenty of brand new boxed BSI units to bid on or BBA Reman can also test / repair your original BSI unit with a 2 year warranty as well.

If your having problems with a multiplexed Peugeot / Citroen BSI unit then try the following in this order:

1) BSI reboot

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.

Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.

Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.

Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).

Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.

Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.

Remove key open & close door test central locking system.

Start the engine and complete the system's check.

Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect BSI operation.

2) BSI software update, take the vehicle to the local Peugeot / Citroen dealer with ALL the key's & have the BSI software updated.

3) Send the BSI to BBA for test / repair.

Needing a new BSI unit is a last resort & if you are really unlucky enough to need one just make sure its a brand new one that hasnt already been coded.

Be very carefull on what you bid on.
