Peruvian Alpacca:

Alpacca (Alpacca silver, A.L.P, ALPACCA PRIMA N.S) is a common nickel alloy containing copper, nickel, zinc and tin. In the 19th century, Alpacca was the tradename created by Berndorf AG., Austria for his nickel silver alloy, but it has since become a generic name for nickel silver. Since one of the most common metal allergies is to nickel, none of the nickel alloys including alpacca are hypoallergenic.

Alpaca is domesticated South American mammal, related to the llama and having fine, long wool.

Other Nickel Alloys:

Nickel silver (German silver) is an alloy of nickel, and isn't silver at all. It's an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. There are many nickel alloys, some of these alloys contain 2% silver. Others may include a small amount of iron to make them whiter and harder. A common nickel alloy in jewelry is Alpacca.
