In a 2006 Survey by Sprint/Vodafone they found that 56 percent of women wanted to personalize their cell (mobile) phone compared to 32 percent for hairstyles. This trend of personalizing a cell phone is just growing and growing with ring tones, screen savers, face-plates, skins, charms and stickers being sold everywhere and in every design conceivable. What was a functional tool for communication has become a 'must have' accessory to many, many fashion styles.

Nowadays your cell phone is seen to reflect your own character and so owners personalize them in unique and stylish ways to mirror their own character and lifestyle.

Make no mistake - Personalizing your phone is fun! You can make your phone cool and functional or wild and crazy: Images, ring tones and face-plates are available to suit nearly anyone's personality!

I sell face-plates (sometimes called Covers or Skins) on ebay and these are a really cool and pretty cheap way of externally personalizing your phone in a way that can make it stand out.

Basically a faceplate is a plastic add-on cover that changes the outward appearance of your cellphone, by 'dressing it' up or it can be very simple looking and just there for protection. Many face-plates that 'dress up' your cellphone also add varying degrees of protection at the same time. For example the cases I sell are extremely 'dressy' and 'blingy' but all of them have a basic snap on case made of tough plastic which really does help protect the phone from damage if dropped and scratches.

You can use different face-plates for different activities or events (Even different moods!). For example, at school or work. Going out with friends or on a date could require different face-plates! Matching your faceplate to your wardrobe, jewelry or just your overall style can make your phone become an important part of your fashion attire!

One word of warning, I have noticed many cheaply priced face-plates for sale on ebay and elsewhere that claim to be made from real Swarovski crystals, with the designs handmade out of them. Swarovskis are expensive and hand sticking crystals is an extremely time consuming job! If someone is asking for 10 or 20 dollars I think it is safe to safe to say you will not be getting real swarovski crystals, or a handmade item!
