Patagonia's DWR Finish - A Definition

DWR stands for Deluge Water Resistant.  This is the treatment that Patagonia uses to make water-proof fabrics used in many of their jackets and rain pants.

This finish lasts substantially longer than finishes used by their competitors.  Garments with the Deluge DWR finish retain their like-new water repellent qualities after many years of extensive use.

DWR is equally effective in repelling light rain and snow, so it's perfect for soft shell jackets, retaining the softness and flexibility and breathability of the fabric, or on a hard shell jacket, it provides a water repelling surface that allows the inner layers to breathe and keep you dry and warm .
