I am still having problems with children using their parent’s eBay account. I've had several more children win only to have the parent send me a note saying they weren't paying because the child didn't understand what he/she was bidding on or the child didn't have permission to use their account. And now my feedback is messed up because a child didn't know what they were doing. This is what happened: someone made a bid on one of the cards I was selling. When the auction ended they paid by Pay Pal. The very next day I sent the card out and sent her a message through eBay letting her know that the card had been shipped that day. The very next day I noticed that she had left neutral feedback. I was shocked because she hadn’t even bothered to send me a message asking me about the card and I had already told her that the card was on the its way. So, I sent her an email asking her why she had left neutral feedback when I had sent her a message about the card. She responded by cussing me out and telling me she had no idea what feedback was. Needless to say I was confused about it. The next day I had a message in my eBay inbox from the lady’s son telling me that he was the one had who messed up my feedback because he didn’t know what he was doing. I sent a message back telling him that what he did couldn’t be fixed and he shouldn’t be using his mother’s account unless his mother was there to help him.
This isn’t a guide as much as it is a PLEA to parents to PLEASE, PLEASE monitor your children’s online activities. Please don’t let them use your eBay account unless you are right by their side to help them. If neither of you know what to do, please use the ‘help’ section located at the top right side of your eBay page. It is very informative and can answer almost any question you have. If you can’t find the answer then contact the customer service department. They can be very helpful too.
I know I am not the only seller experiencing trouble with children using eBay. It’s not fair to us for a child to make a bid without their parent’s permission and have that parent refuse to pay for the item if the child wins the auction. It’s also not fair for a seller to receive bad feedback just because a child was trying to send them a message and clicked on the wrong thing. Please do your part in keeping this site a safe and fun place to buy and sell items.
Thank you for taking time to read this and have a Tiggerific day!!
God Bless You!!
