Mark Whitesell is defining Paintillism as: "Paintillism is not just a photograph, not just a painting, but is a combination of the two."
Many of us, Digital Artists, we are painting from the photograph or all over photograph and digital tools give us this wonderful opportunity, it's not a filter or 1-2 clicks play, it's choosing digital canvas, rough or fine, or digital watercolor paper, or digital rice paper, is importing the photo to the screen where it becomes the liquid paint image, it's to paint all over with the new digital impressionist colors and brushes, or we can use digital oil or watercolor brushes, it's having very artistic vision of the image from the beginning, it's being very detail oriented, very precise, any small mistake or imperfection could ruin all the painting, it's choosing the appropiate background and light, it's using different artistic softwares, it's hours and hours of studies and practice for to paint a master piece. And Mark is doing it in a very professional, beautiful, clean and refined style. He's a pioneer in Digital Art Paintillism and he has many wonderful paintillistic pieces in his listing at Artwork by Mark Whitesell . I'm writing about Mark's Art because I like and I paint Paintillism myself, I like it for portraits, landscapes and flowers, my style differs from Mark's style and not all of my digital paintings are in paintillistic style, but I believe Paintillism gives us the opportunity to present to the collectors impressive Digital Art like we never saw before! In traditional hand painting we can't do it. It's the new era in Arts, new tools for Artists - Digital Tools, new vision, colors and skills and... Mark Whitesell and Digital Fine Artist Organization are introducing the new terminology: PAINTILLISM!
