Finding and Buying authentic Page Rank domains and spotting fake Page Rank domains

How to Find and Buy Page Rank Domains

I spent a lot of time learning about Page Rank domain names.  It is amazing to see domains otherwise worth less than the $6.95 registration fee selling for hundreds of dollars because of a Page Rank.  I asked myself ”How can I find my own Page Rank domains?".

Most people would be surprised to know the PR 6 domain they paid $300-$500 for may have only cost the seller $60 two weeks prior.

Below is the method I and many others on Ebay use to find Page Rank Domains
  1. Finding PR Domains - Sign up with a service like SnapCheck or Exody and receive their daily updates of expiring domains along with the link information and PR for them
  2. Determine which domains to buy - There will be many more high PR domains than you can buy so you will first want to make sure they are legitimate (that will weed out 90% of the high PR domains) using the steps below.
  3. Acquiring PR Domains - Sign up with one or more domain drop services like SnapNames, ENOM Club Drop, Pool, etc.  Now you can bid on these domains.  If you are the only bidder, you can acquire the domain for $60 or less.  If there are other bidders, the domain could sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars.
  4. Using the PR Domain - You can now sell the domain on Ebay or setup a website and charge for text links.
The Page Rank on a domain can change at any point in time, so you want to make sure you either sell the domain or develop the site quickly.  In particular, if you acquired the domain through an expired names service, Google may drop the PR altogether since it is aware of dropcatchers.

Fake Page Rank Domains

A common problem in buying Page Rank domains on Ebay is that many are faked.  I myself innocently fell for fake page rank domains.  In good conscious, I decided to cancel the auctions and will not be selling the domains until their PR has been removed.  I spent some time researching fake Page Rank and found the notes below.

A few notes on Fake Page Rank

    * Accomplished by a 301 or 302 redirect
    * Fake domain "inherits" the Page Rank and also inbound links (eg. link:fakedomain.com shows results of link:realdomain.com)
    * 95% of the Page Rank tools are not setup to tell fake Page Rank
    * Even the Google Toolbar can't tell fake page rank from legitimate page rank
    * SEOLogs Fake Page Rank Detection Tool - http://seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html (manually type the link in your browser)
