Padparadscha Sapphires are extremely rare and very expensive so be careful when purchasing them on line. If the price of a padparadscha is too good to be true, it probably is. I have seen Mystic Topaz and Pink Tourmaline gemstones both passed off as genuine padparadscha.

Keep in mind when buying any jewelery the gold content of the setting tells you something about the quality of the stone. A precious gem like a padparadscha will not be set in 10k or even 14k gold. It would probably be set in 18k. That goes for any kind of gemstone, the higher the gold content the better quality of gemstone. A rare stone like a padparadscha would not be wasted in a 10k setting. I found out the hard way when I purchased a "padparadscha" on ebay set in 10k gold and it turned out to be a pink tourmaline. After pointing out the fact the ring was NOT genuine padparadscha to the seller I noticed he began using the description  "padparadscha colored tourmaline" on his rings. Busted!!! Padparadschas should have both the orange and the pinky color, not just pink or just orange.

If you do buy a padparadscha on ebay I would recommend taking it to your jeweler to make sure it is genuine, especially if you have paid big bucks for it. It is ALWAYS a good idea to have your high end jewelery purchases checked out by your jeweler unless you are have experience judging stones. If you have a fake make sure you inform Ebay and Paypal (if that is the form of payment you used) asap! Sellers can make errors on their descriptions, but there are some sellers out to rip off the naive gemstone buyer. If you get burned, file claims, get your money back and I mean all of it (see my guide on buying diamonds) and leave appropriate feedback to warn the next guy. You no longer have to worry about negative retaliation feedback from a seller due to Ebays change in feedback policy. You can leave honest feedback and worn the next gem buyer if needs be.

I hope this guide can prevent somebody else from getting ripped off. If this has been helpful to you please vote yes below. Good luck!

Toolhaus.org is a great site to check negative feedback on any ebay seller~check it out     (^..^)
