Guru Padmasambhava, The Lotus Born is popularly known as Guru Rinpoche(Precious Guru). He was born after the twenty-four years of Parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni and is renowned as the Second Buddha. Buddha Amitabha concieved the thought of enlightenment in form of Avalokiteshvara, and from the heart of Avalokiteshvara, Padma Guru emanated from the seed syllable 'HRIH'. He is a great Tantric Buddhist Master. He is the principal teacher to diffuse Biddhism in Tibet along with Santarakshita. He is known for building the Famous Samye Monastery in Tibet under his direction. Guru Padmasambhava has Eight Manifestations. They are: 1. Padma Vajra who severed the roots of five poisons, 2. Padmaraja who provided mundane and ultimate benifits, 3. Padmasambhava who blessed beings endowed with faith, 4. Dorje Drollo who tamed the Yakshas and haughty beings, 5. Surya Prabha who taught the essence of secret mantra, 6. Sakya Simha who guided beings towards the path of Enlightenment, 7. Simhanada who defeated the outside aggressors of non-Buddhist and heretics, and 8. Dhimanvaruchi who showed the teachings of Sutra and Mantra. Tibetans believe him to be no different from Buddha Shakyamuni himself. His body is usually depicted golden wearing a red hat. He wears various colored robes symbolizing his enlightened experience and attainment. His inner garment is white symbolizing clear light aspect of mind, outer garment is red symbolizing deep and great compassion and his outermost garment is brown symbolizing his renunciation. He is depicted seated upon a lotus of altering blue with red and green with orange petals. Guru spent his life in Tibet between 747 A.D. to 765 A.D. although some sources claim he spent fifty years of his life in Tibet. He is said to remain in Chamara, the south-western land of Rakshasas, in the "immortal rainbow body of transference('ja lus' pho ba chen po)". He had twenty-five great disciples who were instrumental in preserving the teachings of Lord Buddha till today through various manifestation. His twenty-five great disciples are: King Trison Detsen(790-858 C.E) The Thirty-Seventh Ruler of Tibet ; 1. Nupchen Sangye Yeshe, 2. Gyalwa Chok-Yang, 3. Namkhe Nyingpo, 4. Jnana Kumara, 5. Khandro Yeshe Tsogyal, 6. Palkyi Yeshe, 7. Palkyi Senge, 8. Vairochana, 9. Yudra Nyingpo, 10. Dorje Dudjom, 11. Yeshe Yang, 12. Sokpo Lhapal, 13, Nanam Yeshe, 14. Palkyi Wangchuk, 15. Denma Tsemang, 16. Kawa Paltsen, 17. Shupu Palkyi, 18. Dre Gyalwa Lodro, 19. Khenchuk Lotsa, 20. Trenpa Namkha, 21. Orten Palkyi Wangchuk, 22. Ma Richen Chok, 23. Lhalung Palkyi Dorje, 24. Langtro Konchok Jungney, and 25. Lasum Gyalwa Changchup.
