At the risk of sounding like a disgruntled customer I am still going to write this Guide to hopefully help others from making the same bad decision that I did.
I received a coupon in the mail encouraging me to open a ProStore. I have had a very successful eBay Store for many years. Are these two synonomous? Not in the least!
I did open a Prostore, but it turned out to be a nightmare. I was given 2 free months for the price of one. I researched using Prostores without much success. I find it odd that they are not listed in Seller Central Resources. I now realize they probably aren't listed because they know many eBay users would rate them extremely low.
I opened my ProStore, then called days later and canceled/closed it. I was assured there was nothing more that I needed to do. Last week there was a charge for $20.95 to my PayPal account from ProStores. I contacted every customer service area I could with no help whatsoever. They indeed had closed my store, but refused to refund my money. I had not listed one item in those few days. I didn't even actually set the store up.
PayPal won't do a charge back because it didn't qualify under the rules of subscriptions.
If you are thinking of opening a ProStore.....be very careful. Think through it and by no means use a so-called free coupon.
It doesn't make any sense to open a ProStore, when eBay gets to charge you fees, yet you are not allowed to use a ProStore link in any auction and eBay does not drive traffic to it. Why should they then get to collect fees? There are many eBay Sellers out there that offer web design services for a very reasonable amount. eBay Stores is another option that is much more cost effective and customers can click into your store right from any eBay Auction you have.
All my requests have fallen on deaf ears from ProStores, to PayPal, to eBay. Someone needs to learn a little bit about customer service. MY customers are always right, but obviously Prostores do not care about their customers.
I also think eBay should rethink allowing ProStores to use the eBay name.
