PROMOTING YOU LISTINGS: part 1 Business Cards
A Business card is a hard working little tool for you to use that will help promote your business. But only if you use them.
Have them printed up - it is cheap enough. In some cities there are machines in subways and so forth where you can get a 100 cards printed out cheaply to your specifications.
Or if you want to take a little more time, you can work up the graphics for you card and take it to a copy center. If you like you can do what many of us do - make your own! Card stock is readily available and your home computer and printer will do the work for you. You can laminate your cards too and add a variety of lettering such as gold or silver with kits.
What information should be on your card?
Your name, your eBay selling ID, the URL to your eBay auctions - you don't need an eBay store to have business cards, your home phone number, maybe your physical address, and if there is room, a few words about what you sell --- something like "quality jewellrey" or "gourmet bakery at affordable prices" as we do.
Now that you have your cards
What should you do with them? You should carry a supply of them with you at all times. Be sure your contact info is up to date on your business cards. If need be change things such as phone numbers by hand. Nothing worse than handing out a card and the prospective buyer cannot get a hold of you!
Give a business card to everyone you meet. It isn't being pushy to do this. Just have them handy in your pocket and hand one to the person and say something like "Oh by the way, here's my card if you ever need my services " should do it.
It is also a good idea to pin these cards up wherever you go - restaurant bulletin boards, laundromats, here, there and everywhere. Never hurts.
Stick a few under a few windshield wiper blades too. Why not?
Add one to all packages you mail out to customers. We hand one to our customers at our farm market booth. Or we leave some on the table.
How much business will you get this way? More than you would get if you don't!!
