The 466 heart patients who were the object of other people's prayers during their hospital stay had 11% fewer complications than did 524 patients who were not prayed for. Patients did not know prayers were said on their behalf. Those who did the praying knew only the patients first names and prayed only for a speedy recovery with no complications". The researchers note that, statistically, such a difference between the groups would occur by chance only once in 25 times.
