Do you own a Power Wheehs, Peg Perego, or any other battery operated ride on vehicle for you child? If so this guide is for you...

I bought my son a Peg Perego quad for Christmas. But we don`t have very many level places to ride in our yard, so all I was doing was following my son around our yard to keep giving him a push because the plastic wheels on these things do nothing but spin in the grass, and if you have a area where you are able to ride on a paved surface it is even worse. Stopping these ride on vehicles is not an easy task with the stock plastic wheels either. So I got on line to see if I could find out any information. I found that alot of people were selling what they called traction bands for these vehicles on ebay. So I figured that I would give them a try. What I received for my $20.00 investment was 2 pieces of  two inch wide rubber and some insturctions telling me how to glue them onto the wheels. (It looked like someone cut a bicycle inter tube into 2 inch strips) Please save yourself the money and headache as this is not the quick fix for the traction problems as they lead you to beleive. So after giving some thought as to what I had to work with I came up with the perfect fix for these vehicles traction problems and best of all i`m not going to sucker you out of $20.00 bucks to tell you about it. First I measured the plastic tires on my sons quad. (Our tires were about 16 1/2" but many of the other vehicles I have made this adjustment to have been around 12 inches) Ok now that you know the size of your plastic wheel go and get yourself a pair of BMX tires with the knobby tread at Walmart for like $8.99 each. In my sons case I bought two 16" BMX tires. Now cut the sidewalls from these tires up to the edge where the tire tread starts. What you are left with looks like a big textured rubber band. Now all you have to do is strech this rubber band over your vehicles plastic wheels so that the band is in the center of the tire. If it seems too tight you can try heating this band up in the microwave for 20 or 30 seconds and it will be much more flexible. Once you have the band in place you could always add a little glue under the tire or put a screw through the rubber tire into the plastic one to hold the new band in place. I have not needed to glue or screw our bands at all. Since I have done this to my sons and many other peoples ride on vehicle the days of me chasing them around to give them a push are now over. My son can go anywhere now and No tire spin at all. He can stop on a hill in wet grass and just pull away like nothing. And when it comes to riding on paved surfaces not only does this fix make the vehicle start and stop like a charm but it does away with the ware and tear on the factory plastic tires. If you found this information helpful please click below so others will know. The only people that won`t find this information helpful are the ebay sellers trying to sucker you out of your money for strips of rubber that they call traction bands. If you need any additional details on this traction fix just let me know......
