Get the right size for your shirt!  You will NEVER mess up your size ever again!  Did you ever buy clothing apparel on-line only to receive it way too small or too big?  As a vintage clothing power seller, I know how frustrating this can be.  So, I created this "how-to" guide to perfect measurements...EVERYTIME! For MEN and WOMEN.

1)  Here's the way to get your perfect measurement.  Take a piece of YOUR OWN clothing to measure.  Now get a cloth tape measure.  If you don't have one, use a piece of string and a ruler/yard stick or carpenter's tape measure.  If you're buying a t-shirt, get one from your closet that fits you the way you want it to. You want tight...get a tight shirt. You want loose...get a loose shirt...and so on.  Measure this shirt and use the measurements as your template for the size you want.

2)  Most of ebay uses Flat Measurements.  These are exactly that...measurements of the garment laid flat on a table. To get the proper conversion to American Sizing Standards. simply multiply this figure times 2 (double it).  This is used most commonly for chest/bust, waist, hips and dress openings. 

3)  Measure the flat shirt from arm pit to arm pit to get the CHEST/BUST measurement...double this to convert it to American Standard Sizes.  The chest measurement is "The King of All Measurement"!  This will assure a nice fitting shirt.  WAIST for men is easy...make sure you use a pair of pants that fit you perfectly. For women the WAIST is further up (see pics above).  HIPS for women is also required for pants and dresses or skirts.

4)  The following measurements do not require the doubling rule.  Refer to the pics above.  Sellers will also give you the LENGTH or the neck to waist measurement...keep this in mind too!...you do not want a shirt that's way too short or down to your ankles.  Inside or Outside the pant leg is the INSEAM or OUTSEAM, respectively.  *SLEEVE LENGTH is from the shoulder seam to the wrist.  LENGTH for suits or jackets is the back of the neck to the bottom of the garment.  NECK measurements are for dress/button down shirts...take the tape measure and, using one of your own button down shirts, measure from the button around the inside collar to the button hole, keeping the tape measure untwisted and flat. SHOULDER measurements are from shoulder seam to shoulder seam(see pic above). 

5)  NEVER RELY ON THE SIZE ON THE LABEL!  Many garments shrink or are just wrongly labeled.  Only use the size on the label when doing an intial search...then make the proper measurements.

*KEEP IN MIND:  THIS IS A SIZING GUIDE FOR THE MAJORITY OF EBAY. NOT EVERY SELLER WILL USE THIS. AND SOME HAVE VARIATIONS TO OUR RULES.
