OK, this is a very simple guide for all sellers out there. If you are shipping higher priced coins or other items that were paid via paypal, you MUST use delivery confirmation (.65 cents at the post office). Otherwise, the buyer can claim they didn't get the item, and you the seller lose the money if you don't have the tracking info. This is what happened to me. Why did it happen? I stated in my ebay terms that if you don't buy insurance or delivery confirmation, I am not responsible for lost items. Guess what? It matters not. Ebay and Paypal are seperate entities and Paypal has taken out 435 dollars from my account for this "missing" coin. I have no way of knowing if it was fraud or not, but because I didn't follow the Paypal agreement, I lose. I asked ebay, if on the ebay side of things if my terms mean't anything. They dodged the question for well over month and I cycled through my different ebay workers looking for an answer. Finally the answer came: Ebay is a forum for buyers and sellers and it's up to me weather I think he owes me the money or not. So ebay officially dodged the issue. I offered a comprise of the buyer only owing me half the money, as he was in the wrong on the ebay side of things, and I was in the wrong on the Paypal side of things, but it looks like I have totally lost the money. Would be glad to hear any opinions on this or if you have gone through something similar. What I wonder if why so many sellers of coins ship high priced coins which were paid through paypal with insurance but not delivery confirmation? I'm not the only one.
